We did however have quite the scare. We had gone to the ultrasound for our gender reveal and the last of the genetics testing. Dr. Jadali said there was a blister in the baby's brain and he wanted to do an amnio right away to make sure we didn't have anything wrong in regards to down syndrome, other birth defects or abnormalities. It came back all negative, so baby is 100% healthy.
However, my two odd pregnancy symptoms that SHOULDN'T be there are:
Number 1: Severe allergic reactions... On Saturday, we went to my sister and brother in laws house and they have a cat. However, normally I don't interact with cats no matter where I go because I am allergic to the cat dander. Apparently, not interacting with cats is just as bad as interacting now. I started getting, what I thought was hives, on Saturday after we left there house. On Sunday, I was walking around barefoot in my grandmas house and she has two cats that live there. By Sunday night, my feet were so swollen and breaking out in hives that I was freaking out and itching all over.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, my feet were so swollen... but the bumps never stayed in one place. They came and went to a whole bunch of different areas strictly on my feet and ankles. I called my OB asking her what I should do and immediately, she said see a dermatologist. So, I got an emergency appointment for this morning, June 12. I had gone to Coastal Dermatology in Camarillo. The building inside is very nice, however the staff at the front weren't all that welcoming. I got there and one of the ladies upfront was giving me a hard time because the lady that scheduled me yesterday didn't alert anyone other than the calendar that I was coming. So she kept telling me no one told us you were coming. After waiting and paying my copay I got taken back. I saw the doctor for maybe 5-10 minutes and I was diagnosed with a severe allergic reaction, but it wasn't hives. Apparently, the allergic reaction causes something in my sweat glands and blood stream to try and fight off the allergens, but it just can't. She checked out my arms and hands to make sure it hadn't spread since I have been itching like a mad man. She prescribed me some type of topical steroid that I am to use 2x per day for a week and if it doesn't go away in a week... come on back because it might be more serious than that. But, the dermatologist was telling me that in a month or so when my lungs are getting pushed up more (or whatever) lol that it will turn into me not being able to breathe as well as the breakout.
Number 2: Another odd pregnancy symptom I have had is in regards to my teeth. Gums get swollen, recede and hurt in a typical pregnancy. However, I have one standing baby tooth left and my gums happened to recede quite a bit, so I went in to get it checked out because it hurts. Apparently, the root is doing well and doesn't seem like the tooth will pop out (fingers crossed) but I am quite swollen around my baby tooth, which is causing pain. There were only two spots I was swollen, my upper crown and my baby tooth. They said normally it would be your whole set of gums... I am one of those odd ducks who gets it only in two places :)
Other than that... regular back ache, headaches, etc. are normal in my symptoms so everything is going smoothly :)
